Thabiso Mohlape, who is from Greymont in Johannesburg is a spirited and lively young man whose hopes and dreams include being one of the best Sports Coaches South Africa has ever seen. His passion for the sporting industry started at a young age where he was inspired by local sport stars and keeping physically fit. As most young people, Thabiso was unsure of his career path after matriculating from Corronationville High School in 2014. However, he was introduced to the Sparrow FET College by his cousin in 2016 who was also a student there at the time. He was excited to learn that there is an institution where various programmes are offered at no expense. Although Thabsio comes from an average background where his family members are able to provide, he needed to help his mother financially after his father’s passing. At this time, he was filled with more determination than ever before. He vowed to make a success of his life, especially after witnessing the unambitious youth in his community. His favourite sport specifically being Rugby, encouraged him to select the Sports Coaching Programme as a field of study at the Sparrow FET College. He thoroughly enjoyed his experience at the college and is grateful especially for Liam Gallagher’s mentorship, who was his facilitator. After studying at the FET College, Thabiso did his work base training at the De la Salle Holy Cross College where he gained experience working with the learners and teaching physical education. The school saw potential in him and offered him employment where he worked for 2 years after being scouted by the Sparrow Foundation School where is currently employed now. Although achieving many of his goals, Thabiso’s willingness to learn never falls short. He is a vibrant individual who is dedicated to making a difference.
