PURPOSE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: END USER COMPUTING

This program is aimed at providing the learner with the skills to access, process and produce information using a computer with various applications. This programme is well suited to individuals who are required to work with, capture or produce data using computer-based processes in a commercial environment.
Learners enrolled in the programme work with and process data using a computer and related applications. Learners specialise in network and computer structure and architecture.

EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES:
On completion of this qualification learners are able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of applying Graphical User Interface (GUI)-based Word Processing Application skills in the Workplace.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of applying Graphical User Interface (GUI)-based Presentation Application skills in the Workplace.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of applying GUI-based Spreadsheet Application skills in the Workplace.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of applying GUI-based Electronic Mail Application skills in the Workplace.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of applying GUI-based Web Browser Application skills in the Workplace.
  6. Improve Communication by combining communication skills with End User Computing skills.
  7. Improve the application of mathematical literacy in the workplace, by better utilising End User Computing Applications.
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of the use of Information Communications & Technology (ICT) in an organisation & the impact it has on societies.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Candidates must be between 18 – 29 years of age (disabled candidates can be older)
  2. Candidates must be a South African citizen
  3. Minimum passed Grade 11 ( Grade 10 for disabled candidates)
  4. Physically disabled candidates accepted
  5. BOTH English and Mathematics must be at ABET Level 2
